Two hundred and sixty elephants let loose on London's streets for two months and each eventually sold to the highest bidder at an auction attended by celebrities who took turns selling some of the brightly decorated beauties.  Over £4.000.000 (4 million pounds) was raised to help the Asian elephant whose population and habitat is dwindling to a potentially disastrous degree. elephant image No195
