CARNAVAL DEL PUEBLO (LONDON CARNIVALS)

the Carnaval Del Pueblo is an annual feast of colour, Samba beats, flamboyant costumes and spicy foods.

This carnival is Europe's largest Latin American inspired event that takes place in south London - and it's

free to watch of course.  The procession when i took these photos some years ago began in Potters Fields

by Tower Bridge and the floats, dancers and musicians wound their ways down a generally traffic free route

before terminating at it's destination of Burgess Park. I think there is a new - less scenic starting point now

which this year (2009) was the Elephant and Castle. I haven't been to either watch nor takes photos since

taking these images in 2007. In the park there are food stalls, bands, solo artists and dance lessons etc so it's

definitely worth seeing and/or taking part in this event at least once
