MV SEABOURN SOJOURN PHOTOS FROM GREENWICH, SOUTH EAST LONDON 

the latest addition to the Seabourn fleet of cruise ships and Greenwich is the venue for its maiden voyage. The luxury class liner is moored on the river Thames from June 4th until its departure for the first passenger carrying voyage on the 6th June 2010. With a capacity to carry 450 passengers (not including stowaways) it has a compliment of staff almost as many. There have been items on local London news programmes coinciding with the ships arrival here of plans to make this area of the city a rival to ship and ferry ports of Southampton and Portsmouth. The last large ship to enter the narrow banks of the Thames was the 'Azamara Journey' which arrived a day or two prior to the Sojourn's arrival. Before

 the Azamara, H.M.S Illustrious docked on the Thames, here to celebrate a centenary for the Royal Navy called FlyNavy100. Photos from that particular event including air displays and static temporarily grounded aircraft can be seen sprinkled elsewhere on photoslondon.com. sadly i didn't manage to get any photos of the Amazara journey as i heard too late about it visiting London

chain but no anchor at Greewnich SE10. The tide is not high, in fact it's out so i can get down and dirty amongst the slime and sludge of the river Thames shore >> chain anchoring the Seabourn Sojourn to its spot in Greenwich London

not sure what the function of this old tyre is but it seems to have one which you can't say for the majority of used tyres. New 2010 Seabourn addition, the Sojourn is about to leave Greenwich
